TOO MUCH TO DO

by Adam McEldowney, 03/18/97

I’m going to run,
But I will not hide!
For I have nothing to fear.
The sky may be gloomy,
overcast with a hint of silver.
But I will not hide.

I’ll run to the basketball courts.
Say hi to my friends.
Play in the sandbox even.
Run in circles until I fall down,
Jump rope for an hour like a clown.
I will not hide.

When it rains I’ll go home
Make something to eat
Call the girl next door.
Maybe do my homework
or read a great long novel
But I will not hide.
