Sanctuary Psychiatric Centers'
Programs

Sanctuary Psychiatric Centers of Santa
Barbara is a not-for-profit agency offering a unique
continuum of treatment options for emotionally disabled adults, ages 18-59.
Founded in 1976 as Sanctuary House of Santa Barbara Inc., a residential
treatment facility, the agency gradually expanded services to meet the broad
range of client needs. Comprehensive programming and ongoing follow-up services
provide superior, individualized support and treatment.
Sanctuary Psychiatric Centers treatment options
include the following:
- Sanctuary
House, a residential treatment facility for persons experiencing an
acute episode of mental illness.
- Satellite
Program, a transitional support service to enable clients to
successfully move into an independent living setting when they no longer
need the intensive structure of a residential treatment facility.
- Graduate
Program, a residential facility for graduates of Sanctuary House that
provides a maximum of independence while still providing therapeutic
structure and support.
- Supported
Independent Living Program, large residential facilities that, like
the Graduate House, provides a maximum of independence combined with
therapeutic structure and support.
- In-Home
Supportive Services Program, a program that provides support and
assistance to persons who are living independently but who still need a
minimal amount of support to maintain healthy functioning in the
community.

Services, a program that offers three levels of Day Services. The
components are Partial Hospitalization, Day Treatment, and
Socialization/Recreational Activities. This program is open to people

Dialectical Behavior Therapy, an outpatient program helping
individuals dealing with a mixture of mood, anxiety and characterological issues by supporting them to change
their severe impulsive or out of control behavior patterns. This
comprehensive treatment has been proven effective for chronically suicidal
and parasuicidal (self-harming) individuals who
meet the criteria for BPD, as well as clients dealing with anxiety and
depression..
- Co-Occurring
Disorders Program, a program of services offered to all Sanctuary
Psychiatric Centers' clients and to Dually Diagnosed persons in the
community. This program serves the needs of Dually Diagnosed clients by
providing therapy, support, and education geared toward substance abuse
combined with mental illness.

Psychiatric Centers' clients. This program assists individuals in
obtaining the skills necessary to once again become viable contributing
members of the community.
